Hello! My name is Shay and I’m the creator of Lowcalicious. I follow a CICO (calories in, calories out) diet but it’s not really a diet at all. It’s just the basic principle of eating what I want in moderation as long as it fits my daily calorie budget.
CICO is most commonly followed to eat in a calorie deficit for weight loss but is also great for maintaining and bulking. While I don’t precisely count Macros, I personally prioritize protein in my day-to-day eating since I’m strength training and am actively working on gaining muscle and losing fat.

I’ve been developing recipes professionally for 8 years now on my gluten free baking and desserts blog – What The Fork Food Blog. Lower calorie recipes make it easier to eat in a calorie deficit and eating in a calorie deficit is essential if you’re trying to lose weight.
Here on Lowcalicious, you’ll find recipes ranging from 300-500 calories with some being a little higher or lower depending on the type of recipe and whether it’s a breakfast item or lightend-up, classic comfort food.
I’m a busy mom and don’t have extra time for elaborate meals so I mostly prefer preparing meals with quick prep and minimal steps but big flavor. Here on Lowcalicious, you’ll find easy to prepare, low calorie meals that will fit into your busy lifestyle.
