Cottage Cheese Queso Recipe
Cottage cheese is having a moment and I’m here for it! I’ve been a long time fan of cottage cheese and have eaten it as a snack since I was a kid.
One of my favorite ways to eat it is super simple, on crackers for the easiest cheese and crackers! But like I mentioned before, I’m here for all these recipes with cottage cheese, like Edible Protein Cookie Dough, that have become viral TikTok recipes.
This cottage cheese dip brings all the flavor of queso dip but without the extra calories, fat, or suspect ingredients. This easy dip is so simple to make a food processor or blender and only calls for three ingredients.
If you’re not a fan of Greek yogurt, cream cheese, or mayonnaise based dips, you’ll love this healthy queso dip because it doesn’t contain any of those!
You should definitely give this recipe a try and be sure to leave a comment to let me know what you think!

Ingredient Substitutions and Variations
Feel free to add a little hot sauce for heat or add some fresh garlic, stir in some freshly chopped tomatoes, or even some jalapeño. You could also use Baby Bell Pepper Jack or your favorite Baby Bell cheese or reduced fat shredded Mexican blend cheese.
Other variations on TikTok that I’ve seen have included cheddar cheese instead of pepper jack cheese, nutritional yeast instead of cheese, and fajita seasoning instead of taco seasoning.

Please note, any ingredient substitutions you make will affect the total calorie count.

Tips for Making Cottage Cheese Queso
- I use small curd cottage cheese.
- You can double the recipe to make a larger batch to meal prep for the week.
- If you prefer a cold cottage cheese dip, you could blend the cheese with the cottage cheese and serve it cold.
- If you have a high-powered microwave, you can start by heating the dip in 15-30 second increments so it doesn’t get too hot too quickly and separate.

I did not need this recipe to taste this good! Added some homemade salsa – excellent! Thank you.
You’re welcome, so glad you enjoyed it!
I’m always looking for recipes. Right now I can only have blendered food.
I’m sorry to hear that you can only have blended food at the moment – I hope you enjoy this recipe.
This was delicious. Big hit with our Sunday dinner as appetizer and everyone liked it so well they put it on their pulled Buffalo chicken sandwiches.
Thanks so much Diana! Love the idea of putting this on sandwiches. I’ll have to try this on tacos!
Can this be kept warm in a crock pot?
I haven’t tried it but if you do, let me know!
Can this be frozen??? I have some cottage cheese to use up because of expiration date.
I have not tried freezing this but I have a feeling it might separate when it defrosts.
I just made this and it was soooo good ! I didn’t have jalapeño jack cheese but used quesadilla cheese and half of a Jalapeño . After hearing I added sliced green onion, cilantro, some lime juice, adobo and some smoky hot chili powder and garlic powder. This was absolutely the bomb ! Ate with protein tortilla chips and got my protein goal crushed by adding it! This was so easy and I can’t wait to make it for others! I’m not even going to tell them it’s healthy! They don’t need to know! Lol
Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for this recipe! I’m never buying the jar again.
I didn’t have pepper jack, so I used less than 1/4 cup old cheddar and added diced pickled jalapeños (plus some extra cayenne and chili powder). This is the best…no longer feeling guilty about my guilty pleasure- queso!
Love how you improvised!
This was fantastic! I was skeptical, but for nothing. It was so tasty and creamy like real queso.
Thank you, Lisa!
This was excellent! My “crew” all 25-35 year old men came for family dinner night. They are all health conscience and body buiders… Protein is the focus of our meals.
They all put it on their taco’s, in fact we ran out and they were asking for more.
Thanks, Kelley!
