This fresh and homemade Tzatziki Sauce recipe is made with minimal ingredients, unlike store-bought sauce that contains a long list of processed ingredients. You can make this easy sauce in just 5 minutes with ingredients you probably already have. It’s faster to make than going to the store to buy it!

It’s really easy to add a ton of flavor to your meals with the natural power of vegetables, aromatics, and herbs.

You don’t have to suffer through dry, bland protein when you can whip up a flavor-bomb dip like this easy Tzatziki sauce in just 5 minutes.

Plain Greek yogurt, cucumbers, fresh lemons, and garlic are all staples in my kitchen so I pretty much always have the ingredients on hand.

Since this recipe calls for just 1/2 cup of shredded cucumber, I slice up and prep the remaining cucumber to have on hand while I already have it out. That way it doesn’t end up in the back of my refrigerator going to waste.

I don’t know about you, but using a single ingredient and prepping it for two uses in one shot always makes me feel so accomplished in the kitchen! It’s like pressing the easy button on meal prep.

This recipe can easily be scaled up to make a larger batch to serve a crowd, or you can scale it down to make an individual sized portion.

Tzatziki Sauce Ingredients and Notes

Greek Yogurt – Full-fat Greek Yogurt produces a sauce with the best flavor and texture. You can use low-fat Greek Yogurt to make it low calorie.

Lemon – I prefer this sauce with fresh lemon instead of vinegar but to keep it more authentic, you can mix in a teaspoon of white vinegar.

Herbs – to keep this recipe as easy and basic as possible, I often don’t add herbs because I don’t always have fresh ones on hand. Feel free to add some fresh dill or mint.

TIP:

Make sure you drain the cucumber really well to avoid having a watery sauce.

Easy Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

Easy homemade Tzatziki Sauce recipe is made with minimal ingredients that are fresh and healthy. Make this low calorie sauce in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Full-Fat Greek Yogurt, see notes
  • 1/2 cup Grated Seedless Cucumber
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon Black Pepper, Freshly Cracked

Instructions

  • Use a box grater to finely shred the cucumber. Wrap the shredded cucumber in cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. You can also place it in a sieve and press the water out.
  • Add all of the ingredients to a small bowl.
  • Mix together until completely combined. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

  1. For a lower calorie sauce, you can use low-fat or fat-free Greek Yogurt. It will slightly affect the taste and texture.
  2. Serving size is approximately 2 tablespoons.
