Serving Suggestions
My favorite way to eat these is by adding all my favorite taco toppings. Some of my favorite toppings are:
- Jalapeño Peppers (pickled or fresh) or Bell Peppers
- Shredded Lettuce
- Diced Tomatoes
- Reduced-Fat Cheese
- Salsa
- Avocado
- Black Olives
- Cilantro
You could even serve this with some tortilla chips and eat it like a taco dip.
Meal Prep
Once you make your taco meat, you can meal prep these bowls in advance for lunches during the week. Let the cooked meat cool and then add your taco meat, cottage cheese, and shredded cheese to a microwave safe meal prep container. Now your lunches for the week are ready to heat and eat!
Keep the toppings separate until you’re ready to serve.
These are my favorite meal prep containers for cottage cheese bowls.
TIPS
- Use the meat of your choice to make the taco meat. I’ve made these with lean ground beef, ground chicken, ground turkey, and shredded chicken breast. Lean ground beef and ground turkey are my favorites.
- If you don’t like the texture of the curds, you can use a food processor or blender to blend the cottage cheese before making the taco bowl. This will give it a smoother and creamy texture.
- Different brands of cottage cheese contain varying amounts of liquid. I use Good Culture which isn’t too watery. Using cottage cheese with a higher moisture content will make the taco bowls a little more runny. If there’s extra liquid in your cottage cheese, I suggest draining it before making these bowls.
